Governor Doug Ducey appointed Regent Cecilia Mata to an eight-year term on the Arizona Board of Regents in August of 2020. She is secretary of the board, chair of the Finance, Capital and Resources Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee, and Academic Affairs and Educational Attainment Committee.
Regent Mata is the founder, president and owner of AllSource Global Management, LLC, a professional services company doing business with the Department of Defense. She grew the company into a comprehensive enterprise that offered diverse products and services to a host of organizations both public and private. During this time, Regent Mata founded another company specializing in armed and unarmed security services, and purchased an aerospace engineering design and manufacturing company.
Regent Mata, who was born and educated in Panama, is fluent in English, Spanish and Chinese. Her first job in the U.S. was as a program coordinator at University of Arizona South, the University of Arizona’s Branch Campus in Sierra Vista. She also worked for Cochise County Workforce Development until she opened AGM in 2005.
A leader in Southern Arizona and within the Hispanic community, Regent Mata is a member of the Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Friends of Small Business Advisory Board, Association of the United States Army, Women’s Business Enterprise Council-West and Women Presidents Organization.
She was named the 2013 Tucson Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Businesswoman of the Year, the 2016 Minority-Owned Small Business Champion of the Year by the Arizona Small Business Administration and an outstanding Latina entrepreneur by Cox Communications.
She is a devoted advocate of public higher education, Arizona’s public universities, women-owned small business, and small businesses in general. In Panama, Regent Mata earned degrees in business administration from Universidad Santa Maria la Antigua (bachelor’s degree) and Universidad Latinamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología (master’s degree).
